GUIDANCE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

Life insurance
for older adults.

Understand final expense and guaranteed acceptance coverage. We compare options from the companies we represent and explain the differences, at your pace and in your language.

Life insurance is for them: the loved ones you leave behind.

It means thinking about the people you love today and helping them avoid having to figure out how to cover final expenses during a difficult time, or which children and grandchildren can afford to contribute.

01 / THE OPTIONS

Two options worth understanding.

Life insurance can provide a payment to your beneficiaries when you pass away, subject to the policy terms. It can help with a funeral, outstanding bills or other family needs.

Final expense describes the purpose of coverage; guaranteed acceptance describes how you qualify. Both options in this guide are whole life insurance.

PERMANENT COVERAGE · WHOLE LIFE

Final expense insurance

Permanent coverage intended to leave money for end-of-life expenses. Here we compare options that include a health review.

  • Many policies use health questions and medical information instead of a physical exam.
  • Approval and the type of benefit depend on each company’s review.
  • Premiums are usually fixed. Coverage can last for life if required premiums are paid and policy terms are met.

The full benefit may start on the effective date, or benefits may be limited initially. We confirm which option you are being offered.

WHOLE LIFE · NO MEDICAL UNDERWRITING

Guaranteed acceptance insurance

An option to consider when health conditions make other coverage difficult to obtain. It can also help with final expenses.

  • No medical exam or health questions are required to determine acceptance.
  • You must meet the product’s age, residency and other eligibility requirements.
  • Coverage amounts are usually limited, with a higher cost for the same amount of insurance.

Guaranteed acceptance does not mean the full benefit is available immediately. Review the initial benefit period and its terms before deciding.

03 / COMPARING WITH YOU

First we listen. Then we compare.

I’m Eladio Castellanos, an independent insurance agent. My team and I represent several companies and compare available options for your situation. We explain the differences so you can make an informed choice.

  1. What you want to address

What you want to leave your family, your current coverage and a payment you can maintain.

  2. Options for your situation

Age, state of residence and health requirements. Having a medical condition does not automatically rule out every policy with a health review.

  3. The terms in writing

Premium, coverage amount, effective date, initial benefit, exclusions and cash value.

Before choosing guaranteed acceptance, we review whether you might qualify for an alternative with a better price or initial benefit.

04 / COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions worth asking.

Does having a medical condition mean guaranteed acceptance is my only option?

Not necessarily. Companies evaluate diagnoses, treatments and medical histories differently. We compare options before recommending an application. Approval for a policy with medical underwriting is up to the insurer.

Does “no medical exam” mean there is no health review?

No. A policy can skip the physical exam and still require health questions or review medications and other records. Guaranteed acceptance does not use medical underwriting, but other product requirements still apply.

Does the money have to be used for a funeral?

Generally, the beneficiary can use the life insurance payment for a funeral, debts or other needs. Final expense insurance is different from a prepaid funeral contract and does not lock in funeral prices.

What does whole life mean?

It is permanent insurance designed to last your entire life while the policy stays in force. It usually has fixed premiums and builds cash value according to the contract. Loans, interest or withdrawals can reduce the benefit; we review those terms with you.

How much coverage do I need, and what will it cost?

That depends on your goals, savings, existing coverage and budget. Premiums also depend on age, the product and, when applicable, health and tobacco use. We compare individual proposals; you may already have enough protection.

Should I cancel the policy I already have?

We review your current policy first. Replacing it can mean losing benefits, incurring costs or starting new waiting and contestability periods. Do not cancel a policy before you understand the new one and confirm that it is in force.
